Common mistakes and fixes

Avoid the pitfalls that cost teams time and money

Vague requirements

Suppliers quote broadly when specs are unclear. Fix: Use an RFQ template with tolerances, certifications, testing, and packaging.

Choosing only by unit price

Low quotes can hide quality or lead-time risks. Fix: Score suppliers on price, capacity, QA maturity, and compliance.

Skipping pre-shipment inspection

Defects discovered after departure are costly. Fix: Book AQL inspection and verify labeling, barcodes, and carton qty.

Frequently asked questions

How do I verify a supplier is a real factory?

Ask for business license, photos of production lines, ISO certificates, and recent third-party test reports. Video calls from the shop floor help.

What is a reasonable lead time for first orders?

For custom packaging and new tooling, expect 6–10 weeks. Reorders are faster once materials and QA are standardized.

Do I need an inspection for every shipment?

We recommend at least pre-shipment AQL on first two POs and whenever you change materials, specs, or factory lines.
